Gang Of Rhythm- Walk Off The Earth

Epic song, Epic band, Epic video. Yes that's this song. I wonder if any of you, my readers, remember this song from The Sims 3 Island Paradise expansion pack, I don't personally but I do know it was used from YouTube comments. This is also how I know the video was used in Nintendo 3DS. 

The song literally tells you how it's built in one verse. 'I've got this old guitar strings are rusty but it's all I need bring in the kick drum it can back the beat (let's gather round and sing a song) ice got a shaker too, the kind sound that wants to make you move. Bring in the uke it will complete the groove let's gather round a sing a song' this is genius as when they say the instrument that said instrument will join the backing track. 

This song was first released in 2012 but still to this day has many fans singing along. I remember hearing it live and the sheer volume of the cheer when it started was enough to rival the bands amps. 

The music video tells a story of 4 criminals on the run from the law, they find their way to hiding through their shared love of music. However the law catches up with them and they get arrested again.  They end up back on the run, they get caught again but not before they play a show. 

There's also a alternate video where they had been challenged to a task by Volkswagon Beatle to play the sing in 3 different genres.  As well as one more alternate video where they play the song using  Volkswagon Beatle, this is also part of the 3 version I just mentioned but is also a video in its own right. 

The band, at the time the song was released, was made up of 5 main members, 4 males 1 female. Sarah, one lead singer, Ryan aka Marshall, another lead vocalist, Gianni, Sarah's partner, a third lead vocalist, Joel, the percussion and Mike aka Taylor but more formally known as Beard Guy, he did so much in so little it's hard to pinpoint a exact role. Fun fact though.... Ryan Marshall was also Giannis brother in law, being married to his sister Francesca, so yes the band is practically a family affair. 

Now you may think, wait but Sophie Loves Music, I reconigse the bands name but not this song.....well you may know of their name from their viral video of playing Gotyes 'Somebody That I Used To Know' on one guitar. This video is entitled '5 People 1 Guitar'  and this my loving reader might be how you know them. 

The band is still releasing music to the present day but is now made up of Gianni, Sarah, Joel and newer member Tokyo. Ryan left to pursue his own career and unfortunately Mike passed away.  Sarah and Gianni have 3 sons, Giorgio, Luigi and Romeo who are their own band the Luminati Suns but more about them another time.

Lyrics hailing straight from personal experience. This song is a story and a half. Based off the artists own past long-term, long distance relationship.  Heather Carpenter is a Floridian Indie Rock singer based in Nashville Tennesse. She is also a record promoter for Capitol CMG Radio and was with Universal Music Group Nashville  In a Instagram post about this song, Carpenter, 25, states 'I wrote this song about the depressing period after saying goodbye while in a long distance relationship. The sadness I felt was so intense, I became obsessed with lucid dreaming so I could manipulate m dreams to dance with my distant lover in my sleep.
